Seniors Learn How To Protect Themselves Against Credit Fraud

On December, 7, 2007 the Senior Tenants & Landlord Reconciliation Project hosted Joel Balavram, Senior Consumer Frauds Representative with the State Attorney General's Office Harlem Branch to give Seniors the tools to deal with debt collectors who harass and constantly phone solicit. The highlight of the seminar was how to stop creditors from going into personal bank accounts and taking money without knowing. He also shared strategies on protecting your personal information and avoiding credit fraud.

Ziola del Castillo, a student at John Jay College and works in Joel Balaram's office, shared her tips and experience in working with seniors who have come to them for their assistance.
